Steelers Sign No. 1 Pick Cameron Heyward

The Steelers' flurry of roster activity continued on Friday when the team announced it has agreed to terms with first round pick Cameron Heyward, a former Ohio State defensive end. Heyward worked out with the team Friday at St. Vincent's College in Latrobe, and the signing was announced later on.

"I'm ready to get to work," Heyward said at his press conference after practice. "I haven't put on a helmet since January 4. It's just been so long so I'm just so excited to get back on this field, just excited to be a part of this team."

The Pittsburgh Post Gazette's Ed Bouchette tweets Heyward's deal is for $6.7 million over four years with $3.3 million in guaranteed money from the Steelers.

With this news, the Steelers have just one draft pick, Texas cornerback Curtis Brown, left to sign to fill out the 2011 draft class. With their top pick in camp, they can now turn most of their attention to the NFL's free agent frenzy.
