Behind The Steel Curtain argues that the Steelers could take a shot on former Ohio State quarterback and Jeannette native Terrelle Pryor in the 2011 NFL Supplemental Draft. The idea is that Pryor, while not an archetypal NFL quarterback, is a very good athlete and a kind of wild card who could be had for a low price.
↵↵↵If that connection led the Steelers to believe they can work with him, they'd maintain exclusive rights to a phenomenal athlete, and be able to develop him into a Steelers kind of player - whether that's at receiver, tight end or quarterback - for about $80,000 this year on the practice squad.

That's true, and BTSC also notes Pryor's connection to Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch, as well as the Steelers' tendency to draft players from Ohio State. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the Steelers were to put in a bid on Pryor. I just think the bid will be a late-round pick and that some other team will put in a higher bid. But I guess, as I write this Monday at around noon, that we'll see here in an hour or so.
