Jon Baldwin, Cameron Heyward Impressing New Teams With Their Approach

Here's a nice feature on Kansas City Chiefs first round draft pick and former Pitt wide receiver Jon Baldwin, who's doing his best to shake potential concerns about his character.

There were some character questions that were associated with him before the draft and some fans even took the wait-and-see approach in regards to Baldwin's personality. But he's done everything that has been asked of him so far and was even described as a good roommate by quarterback Matt Cassel, who housed Baldwin for a few days during some player-run practices before the lockout was lifted.

This is the time of year for these kinds of stories, of course. Fans are curious about their teams' first-round picks, but right now, we know very little about how they'll perform that we didn't know months ago. So we get things like this, about Steelers first-rounder Cameron Heyward.

"He’s a rookie, and he acts like a rookie," said defensive tackle Casey Hampton. "That’s a major thing. You kind of probably wouldn’t think that from his background but obviously his father and his mama did a great job of keeping him grounded."

Both have a chance to contribute this year. It's not clear yet where Baldwin will fit in, especially since hamstring issues have slowed him down in camp so far. The Chiefs have Dwayne Bowe as their top wideout, and Jerheme Urban and Steve Breaston are ahead of Baldwin right now too. Heyward is behind Aaron Smith and Brett Keisel on the depth chart, along with 2009 first-rounder Ziggy Hood.
