Steelers Vs. Panthers Score: Pittsburgh, Carolina Trade Touchdowns In First Quarter

The Steelers scored in their first possession in their final preseason game against the Carolina Panthers. Isaac Redman led the Steelers downfield, and then Charlie Batch threw to Mike Wallace near the goal line. Wallace fumbled, and backup tight end David Johnson recovered it for a touchdown.

Batch got the nod to start as the Steelers aim to decide who will back up Ben Roethlisberger. Batch is currently 6-for-8 for 59 yards.

The Panthers then responded with a drive catalyzed by a personal foul penalty against Ziggy Hood and a 19-yard run by Cam Newton. Newton passed to Jeremy Shockey for a touchdown.

The Steelers came up empty in their next drive, thanks to a holding call on Trai Essex. The Panthers now have the ball, and Newton is already out of the game. Don’t expect to see much action from the Steelers’ marquee players, either.
