The Steelers didn’t get off to a particularly good start in their opening game against the Ravens, as Baltimore quickly got on the board with a three-play touchdown drive that included a 36-yard run by Ray Rice on the first play from scrimmage and a touchdown pass from Joe Flacco to Anquan Boldin.
The Steelers’ first two possessions ended in a punt and a fumble by Ben Roethlisberger, respectively. On the second, the Ravens got great field position and quickly scored on a one-yard run by Rice, making it 14-0. The Steelers’ offense finally responded, with Rashard Mendenhall and Ben Roethlisberger leading the Steelers downfield in their next drive, which ended with an 11-yard touchdown pass from Roethlisberger to Emmanuel Sanders.
So now it’s 14-7 in the middle of the second quarter. It wasn’t an ideal beginning to the game for the Steelers, but they’re still in it.
