The Steelers have signed former Pitt standout Dorin Dickerson and added him to the practice squad. We wrote about this possibility last week when Dickerson worked out for the Steelers. Dickerson has played both wide receiver and tight end, and it's not yet clear where the Steelers will use him. He was a seventh-round draft pick by the Houston Texans in 2010, and the Texans tried to make him a wide receiver. He did not have any regular-season catches for them.
↵Of course, he won't be doing anything for the Steelers right away, since he's on the practice squad, but there might be some chance of him helping out on special teams at some point in the future, since he's an excellent athlete.
↵Someone will have to be released from the practice squad to clear space for Dickerson.
↵UPDATE: The Steelers have cut tight end Jamie McCoy to clear space for Dickerson.
