Fantasy Football Advice, Week 2: Seahawks Vs. Steelers

I wish I could give some nuanced, yet elegant, fantasy football advice on this week’s matchup between teh Seattle Seahawks and Pittsburgh Steelers, but as Brandon Funston’s preview of the game over at Yahoo! makes clear, it’s really pretty straightforward. Steelers good, Seahawks bad. Steelers start, Seahawks sit. See? Suddenly I’m an idiot. Me Tarzan, you Jane.

Sorry, even I, a devout Seahawks fan, can’t find a way to make even a drop of lemonade out of this lemon. Avoid all Seattle entities this week. … With arguably the Steelers best offensive lineman (Willie Colon) out for the year and Seattle showing strength again against the run with DL Red Bryant healthy like he was early last season, RB Rashard Mendenhall doesn’t have huge upside this week.

Honestly, I’d be happy to run Mendenhall out there, simply because of the chance that the Steelers will get out to a nice lead and pick a bunch of running plays. Funston’s point about Willie Colon is a good one. But that shouldn’t stop you from taking any Steelers this week. Mendenhall, Mike Wallace and Ben Roethlisberger are all obvious plays, and Hines Ward and Emmanuel Sanders are also pretty good ones, depending on what other matchups your wide receivers have.
