2012 NFL Mock Draft: Steelers Projected To Take Dont'a Hightower

The Pittsburgh Steelers enter the offseason with a few holes on their roster that need to get filled. But a new mock draft at Walter Football has an interesting tidbit about how the Steelers draft, and what that means for their likely selection in April. As Walter Football points out, the Steelers typically just take the player on top of their big board, not their greatest need, and they believe that player will be Alabama inside linebacker Dont'a Hightower.

The Steelers usually take the top player on their board, and it would be hard to imagine that it wouldn't be Dont'a Hightower in this case. Pittsburgh has some aging inside linebackers on its defense, so Hightower would be a great long-term solution.

Hightower would be a great fit for the Steelers defense, now and into the future. He also happens to play the position of one of the Steelers three biggest needs. If their pick rolls around and Hightower is the highest-rated player on their board, this should be a pretty solid selection.
