2012 NFL Power Rankings: Steelers ranked No. 12 by SB Nation

Sunday's loss to the Chargers did not hurt the Steelers much in SB Nation's latest release of the NFL Power Rankings.

The latest SB Nation NFL Power Rankings have been released, and the Pittsburgh Steelers are the league's 12th-best team, according to NFL Editor Joel Thorman.

The Steelers (7-6) lost to the visiting San Diego Chargers, 34-24, on Sunday, their third loss in four games, despite having starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger at the helm.

Here's what Thorman had to say about the Steelers, who were ranked 10th last week:

12. Pittsburgh Steelers (LW: 10, 7-6): Oy. The first Steelers team ever to lose to the Chargers in Pittsburgh during the regular season. That can't feel good.

Overall, SB Nation moved the New England Patriots into the top spot after their impressive 42-14 victory over the Houston Texans on Monday night. The Texans fell to No. 2 while the Denver Broncos, Atlanta Falcons and San Francisco 49ers rounded out the top five.

The Baltimore Ravens, slotted eighth, remain the highest-ranked AFC North team, while the Cincinnati Bengals (No. 16) and Cleveland Browns (No. 27) are all ranked behind the Steelers.

The Steelers play the No. 13-ranked Dallas Cowboys (4:25 p.m. ET on CBS) on Sunday.
