The Pittsburgh Steelers placed three players on the injured reserve list on Wednesday. Tight end Heath Miller, who tore multiple ligaments in his knee, including his ACL, on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals; cornerback Ike Taylor, who is still rehabbing a broken ankle, and running back Baron Batch (broken arm) were all placed in IR. To take their roster spots tight end Jamie McCoy, safety Damon Cromartie-Smith, and linebacker Marshall McFadden were signed to the 53-man roster.
Miller had been having the best season of his eight-year career before injuring his knee on Sunday. He ends his season with 71 receptions for 816 yards and eight touchdowns. He will undergo surgery on Thursday, Dec. 27 to repair his torn ligaments.
Pittsburgh hoped Taylor, who broke his ankle against the Baltimore Ravens on Dec. 12, would have been available for the postseason had they qualified. Now that the Steelers have been eliminated from postseason contention, Taylor was placed on IR.
