Four Steelers were named as alternates for the Pro Bowl, in addition to two Steelers already named to the AFC team.

Four Pittsburgh Steelers have been named as alternates to the Pro Bowl, in addition to a pair of players already voted into the game. Those four players include quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, linebacker Lawrence Timmons, kicker Shaun Suisham and free safety Ryan Clark.

That group would potentially be joining center/guard Maurkice Pouncey and tight end Heath Miller should the need arise due to injury, the Super Bowl, or just a general lack of motivation to take part in the game. Roethlisberger has been named to the game twice before, while Clark was named once prior. It would be the first Pro Bowl appearance for Suisham and Timmons.

The Pro Bowl will take place Jan. 27, 2012, between the weekends of the conference championship games and the Super Bowl. It will be played at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, and it will be the 12th consecutive season in which the Steelers have had multiple players invited. It's not hard to picture some of the Steelers alternates making it to Hawaii, as quite a few invitations are sure to be declined.
