NFL Mock Draft 2012: Could Defensive Tackle Fletcher Cox Be A Target?

Many 2012 NFL Mock Drafts predict the Pittsburgh Steelers will select an offensive lineman, but the latest mock from Rob Rang of sees Pittsburgh bolstering the defensive line instead with the pick No. 24:

24. Fletcher Cox, DT, Mississippi State*: Cox may be relatively unknown outside of the SEC, but in winning the conference defensive lineman of the week four times this season, his opponents certainly know him. Scouts do too, as the 6-4, 295 pounder has the size, strength and athleticism to play in either a three- or four-man front.

Cox was a beast in the SEC this year, as his conference accolades would indicate. He had 14.5 tackles for loss and five sacks. Adding a young defensive lineman would certainly serve as insurance if Casey Hampton does not return from surgery as quickly as expected or as productive.
