Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethisberger has agreed to restructure his contract with the team, according to Scott Brown of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. He joins Willie Colon, Lawrence Timmons, LaMarr Woodley and Ike Taylor on the list of Steelers players that have agreed to restructures this season. Pittsburgh is very much up against the cap, and will need to make even more moves in order to retain some key pieces and sign all of their draft picks.
Brown says that the move will clear up $8 million in cap room next season. That's being echoed by other reporters, and if that's the case, the Steelers' roster moves will have cleared up close to $30 million so far this offseason. This gets them closer to being able to franchise tag Mike Wallace or sign him to a long-term contract. If he's hit with a restricted free agent tender, he's likely to see an offer from another team.
