2012 NFL Mock Draft: Dontari Poe Becoming A Popular Choice For Steelers

The NFL Scouting Combine is still underway in Indianapolis, with the defensive players still to undergo testing over the next few days. But that hasn't stopped the guys at SB Nation from pumping out a new edition of their 2012 NFL Mock Draft. There will be a lot of things changing as we learn more about the prospects, but the Steelers are still projected to take a player that has become a very popular choice for them: nose tackle Dontari Poe of Memphis.

Casey Hampton is recovering from ACL surgery, and his days could be numbered with the Steelers. The team could look at Poe or Alameda Ta'amu with this pick as they look for another big man in the middle. Poe and Ta'amu could alternate at this spot in mock drafts off and on for the next two months.

We know already that Poe would be a good fit for the team, but I think whether or not the Steelers elect to take him flies heavily on Casey Hampton's health, which is something the Steelers know a lot more about than we do.
