2012 NFL Draft: Scratch Vontaze Burfict From First Round

Mocking The Draft writes about Arizona State linebacker Vontaze Burfict's flop at the NFL Scouting Combine, which might have been the straw that broke the camel's back, if by "camel" you mean "Vontaze Burfict's chances of being drafted in the first two rounds."

He ran 40-yard dash times of 4.93 and 5.10 seconds. Burfict also finished last amongst linebackers in the broad jump and second to last in the vertical leap.

Most analysts say the Combine process shouldn't devalue a player. But for Burfict, it certainly isn't helping. His comments to the media Sunday also won't win him many NFL suitors ...

"The coaches kind of messed me up. I didn’t know if I would start a game or be benched. It hurt me, but I tried to fight through it."

Vontaze, the NFL plays the world's tiniest violin for you ... and then turns away to look for more exciting talents. A lot of mock drafts have had the Steelers taking Burfict, but that's not going to happen now, unless he falls to the third or fourth round, or something. At this point, he's got character issues, performance issues and a poor combine showing on his resume. The Steelers probably won't even glance his way early on.
