Steelers Free Agency 2012: William Gay Signs With Arizona Cardinals, According To Reports

Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported on Twitter Sunday afternoon that former Steelers cornerback William Gay has signed with the Arizona Cardinals.

Gay has spent his entire career with Pittsburgh since being drafted in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He has accumulated 243 tackles, three sacks, three interceptions, and 41 pass deflections in his career.

As for what his future role could be with the Cardinals, Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette feels he will not be very high on the depth chart.

Gay continues the trend of Pittsburgh Steeler players heading west to play for the Cardinals after reaching free agency. Joey Porter, Nick Eason, Clark Haggans, Crezdon Butler, and Bryant McFadden have all signed with the Cardinals since 2008.

Gay will be reunited with Cardinals defensive backs coach Ray Horton who held the same position with the Steelers from 2004-2010.
