2012 NFL Mock Draft: Todd McShay Projects Steelers To Take Dont'a Hightower

Todd McShay has come out with the latest edition of his 2012 NFL Mock Draft over at ESPN, and it addresses what have been described as need positions for the Steelers. Mike Tomlin identified inside linebacker and running back as two positions that need depth earlier this week, so McShay gives the Steelers one of each in his two-round mock. He starts with Alabama linebacker Dont'a Hightower in the first round.

Hightower has nailed the pre-draft process and is solidly in the first round, and, with his ability to control the interior against the run, he's a perfect fit for Pittsburgh's 3-4 system. There are few 263-pounders who run like Hightower.

Linebacker is a very serious need for the Steelers, and Hightower has been a very popular choice for them with the No. 24 overall pick in the draft.

McShay also provides a second round mock, and he has the Steelers taking running back Doug Martin from Boise State. He also has Virginia Tech running back David Wilson going a single pick later. If the Steelers are really serious about adding depth at the position, it seems like they'll have a good opportunity to in the early rounds.
