2012 Steelers Free Agency: Pittsburgh Re-signs Charlie Batch

The Pittsburgh Steelers re-signed backup quarterback Charlie Batch according to a tweet by the NFL Network's Jason La Canfora.

Batch first signed with the Steelers in 2003 and has backed up current quarterback Ben Roethlisberger with decent results. In his seven seasons with the team he has thrown 11 touchdowns to eight interceptions. He made appearances in four games for the Steelers last season throwing 15-of-24 with 208 yards and an interception.

Over his 14-year career, Batch has thrown for 10,610 yards with a completion percentage of 56.3 percent. His career quarterback rating is a 77.8.

Part of the reason for this transaction could be concerns for Ben Roethlisberger's durability. Re-signing Batch gives the Steelers a quarterback who knows the Steelers offense very well should Roethlisberger go down with an injury.
