2012 NFL Mock Draft: Dont'a Hightower Still Projected As Steelers Selection

It seemed like it would never come, but the 2012 NFL Draft is very nearly here. We've been trying to project who will fall into every spot in the Draft for months now, but with it just over the horizon, we have a pretty good idea of which players should be taken where. The Pittsburgh Steelers have been projected to take Dont'a Hightower for a while now, and that trend continues with the latest from Walter Football.

The Steelers usually take the top player on their board, and it would be hard to imagine that it wouldn't be Dont'a Hightower in this case. Pittsburgh just cut James Farrior, so the Alabama product would be a great long-term solution next to Lawrence Timmons. Hightower seems like he was made to play for the Steelers.

We've discussed at length just how good of a fit Hightower is for the Steelers. We assume that they would have the same level of interest in him because he would fill a position of need. The only variable left is whether or not he is still on the board when the Steelers pick at No. 24.
