2012 NFL Draft: Where Will Pitt Linebacker Brandon Lindsey End Up?

The Pitt Panthers don't have any prospects scheduled to go particularly high in the NFL Draft later this week, but there are some players from the team last year who could make an impact for some clubs as mid- to later-round selections. That includes Brandon Lindsey, who played as a defensive end for the Panthers but projects to linebacker at the next level. Our Pitt blog Cardiac Hill speculates where Lindsey might go.

If Lindsey goes late, I'd put him in the steal category. As I wrote in the earlier preview piece, Lindsey has some good versatility and has proven he can get to the quarterback from end and from linebacker. Things are surely going to be more difficult at the next level, but Lindsey had a very solid college career and should have a chance to be a real contributor in the NFL. If he doesn't get taken in the middle rounds, he'll make a great pick for someone near the end of the draft.

Lindsey will likely move to outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense so that he can use his ability to get after the quarterback. He might not go very high in the draft because he doesn't have experience at that position. But if he can transition there effectively, he could be a late round steal.
