NFL Network's Mike Mayock has become a highly respected TV analyst and draft scout over the past decade, and on Wednesday, he released his first and only mock draft just a day before the first selection is made. There's certainly no consensus among mock drafts on which way the Steelers will go late in the first round at No. 24, with some predicting an offensive linemen as the choice while others list a variety of defensive players along the front seven.
Mayock, however, has a name many Steelers' fans have become familiar with in the run up to the draft. He projects Cordy Glenn will be the pick, and has this to say about the Georgia tackle:
Glenn is an athletic big man who is fluid when pulling and gets upfield with ease. He is an effective mirror blocker who shows good technique by sitting into his base and controlling defenders. He is aware of stunts and blitzes and usually picks them up with ease. He is a big body who has been a durable starter for Georgia.
In Mayock's opinion, Courtney Upshaw, who the Steelers have hosted, will go one spot ahead of Pittsburgh with the No. 23 pick to the Lions. Dontari Poe and Dont'a Hightower, however, are both still available in this scenario.
