The Pittsburgh Steelers have been pegged with typically an offensive lineman or a linebacker by most in the 2012 NFL Draft. One mock draft in particular went against the grain a bit, selecting a surprise pick for the Steelers that isn't necessarily a need, but could add a nice dimension to the Steelers new look offense. Will Brinson of CBS Sports thinks that Stanford tight end Coby Fleener would be a nice pick for the Steelers.
Coby Fleener, TE, Stanford: This is a bit of a surprise pick, and the Steelers don't necessarily "need" a tight end. However, Kevin Colbert knows value when he sees it, and Fleener is precisely that. He can create mismatches on offense, and if the Steelers are going to struggle in the running game without Rashard Mendenhall, Fleener can add a new dimension to what Pittsburgh does.
Fleener would definitely be a surprise pick by the Steelers, as they have a nice tight end already in Heath Miller. Adding a guy like Fleener however would create some mismatches in formations that the Steelers could both run and pass out of.
