The Steelers have the No. 24 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, and a number of areas of need. While there is a need for some new offensive linemen to help protect quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, nose tackle is also an area that needs to be addressed.
ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter says that if the right defensive lineman is available at No. 24, the Steelers could potentially 'pounce' on the prospect and select him.
This draft is so deep at defensive tackle that it's easy to see the Steelers looking in that direction on draft day. The one thing about Pittsburgh's defense is that it's aging, quickly -- the Steelers need an infusion of youth and talent.
A good young nose tackle would be the best case scenario for a Steelers team looking to revitalize their defense for the upcoming 2012 season. Some of the top defensive tackles, like Devon Still, may not be the best fits, and the Steelers have taken defensive ends in two of the last three drafts. But nose tackle Dontari Poe would certainly make sense from a positional perspective. The Steelers might also take another defensive lineman late in the draft, like Cincinnati's Derek Wolfe.
