The Pittsburgh Steelers begin their first set of OTAs on Tuesday morning, but quarterback Ben Roethlisberger opened the week by speaking with the media at a celebrity golf tournament hosted by Merril Hoge and Max Starks. The quarterback was asked how his relationship with new offensive coordinator Todd Haley is going and he indicated everything is smooth. Via Steelers Depot:
Yeah, we're great. People blew it way out of proportion. It's just something new, we're getting to know each other. There's no trouble between us at all.
The big quarterback also stated that he's lost "quite a few pounds," and that the reduced weight will help keep his ankle healthy. Along with improving his physical shape, he's also mentally preparing himself for the upcoming season, studying the new playbook. He indicated that the new offense is just something new and different, which is not necessarily a bad thing.
Big Ben also issued some brief remarks about the contract situation of his star wideout, Mike Wallace. He largely stayed out of the matter with some general comments that won't rock the boat:
He needs to get his fair market value and I think that it will get done and I think Mike is doing it the right way and the Steelers and the Rooneys are doing it their way.
Wallace will not be in attendance on the first day of OTAs on Tuesday.
