Mike Wallace Contract: Steelers' Cornerback Ike Taylor Comments On Receiver's Dispute

Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor weighed in on the elephant in the room of this Steelers' offseason -- Mike Wallace's contract dispute. Taylor made some strong comments about the situation during his regular appearance on TribLive Radio. The cornerback understands Wallace's situation, but clearly articulated that the wideout is fighting an uphill battle. Via Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review:

"Mike feels like he outperformed his last contract. But he's dealing with a monster, and that's the Pittsburgh Steelers ... they are not going to let you dictate to them on how you feel."

Wallace has not participated in the voluntary offseason program, staying away from the Steelers facilities and refusing to sign a tender. He has until June 15 to sign the tender and he's expected to skip mandatory workouts next month. But Taylor, who has spoken with his teammate this offseason, put it bluntly:

"Mike is going to be a Pittsburgh Steeler for years to come," Taylor said. "(But I told him), at the end of the day: Football doesn't need you; you need football."
