The Pittsburgh Steelers remained very quiet in the first round, and were able to walk away with the player that might have been highest ranked on their board. They seemed like geniuses for hanging back so calmly and waiting for David DeCastro to fall to them, but it turns out that was not always the case.
Interesting note on Bruce Irvin, the 1st 1st rounder to sign. Jets and Steelers had a draft-deal essentially done for NY to drop back ...

It seems like the Jets were going to drop back and take Irvin with the Steelers first round pick, but the deal del through when he went unexpectedly to the Seahawks a few picks too early. As for who the Steelers would take. . .
Steelers still got their man, DeCastro, in their original spot. Will be interesting to see how careers of Irvin and Coples pan out.

This just shows how much the Steelers wanted to have David DeCastro. They were willing to trade up about ten spots, which probably would have carried a heavy price tag I assume. But they were able to get him without trading up. Seems like a win to me.
