Clark Haggans, Former Steelers Linebacker, In Jail In Pittsburgh For DUI

Former Steelers linebacker Clark Haggans is currently incarcerated for a DUI in Arizona. He currently plays with the Arizona Cardinals, but he is serving the sentence in Westmoreland County, and is paying the county for the privilege or serving his time there. He will be in jail for 48 hours, then be able to leave during the days for another week, serving as part of a work-release program.

Haggans says he was driving under the influence because he and his wife were out and he had left his daughter with a babysitter. The daughter, who has "under-developed lungs," began having trouble breathing. The sitter didn't know what to do and called Haggans, who was drunk. Haggans couldn't find his wife.

"I tried calling her within the concert, but had no luck getting a hold of her. I needed to get home to my daughter immediately. I felt that my only choice was to drive home. While driving home, I sped and ran a red light, so I was pulled over. I, along with the officers, proceeded to my house and administered the treatment and my daughter responded."

Haggans now admits that he "should have found another way home."
