Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) – Pascal Dupuis, Sidney Crosby, and Maxime Talbot each registered a goal and an assist, as the Pittsburgh Penguins dominated the Tampa Bay Lightning, 5-1, at CONSOL Energy Center.

Alex Goligoski and Deryk Engelland also scored for the Penguins, who have won two of three. Marc-Andre Fleury made 15 saves.

“We’ve been playing better hockey,” Talbot said. “It was a big effort from everyone.”

Steven Stamkos scored the lone goal for the Lightning, who have dropped two straight and five of six overall. Mike Smith turned aside 15-of-20 shots.

The Penguins broke a scoreless tie at the 8:01 mark of the second period. Kris Letang’s shot from the point was deflected into the net by Dupuis.

Just 27 seconds later, Goligoski made it a 2-0 game. Michael Rupp ended up with the puck at the bottom of the right circle following a battle for the disc behind the net. Rupp quickly dished off to Goligoski, whose wrister beat Smith.

Stamkos’ one-timer from the left circle on the power play at the 5:30 mark of the third made it 2-1.

Talbot gave Pittsburgh a two-goal cushion again at the 12:12 mark. Talbot led a 2-on-1 rush down the left side of the ice and decided to take things into his own hands with a snap shot.

Crosby and Engelland scored in the final minutes to seal the victory.

“Both teams didn’t get too many shots,” Stamkos said. “They just capitalized on their chances.”

This was the Lightning’s first-ever game at the Penguins’ new arena…Tampa Bay has lost five straight on the road…The Lightning recalled forwards Marc- Antoine Pouliot and Johan Harju from Norfolk (AHL)…Tampa Bay captain Vincent Lecavalier sustained a non-displaced fracture in his right hand in a 6-3 loss to the Capitals on Thursday. Lecavalier, who has three goals and six assists this season, is expected to miss the next three-to-four weeks of action.

Sidney Crosby and the Penguins have a rematch against Steven Stamkos and the Tampa Bay Lightning Friday night at 7:00. Stamkos and Crosby are first and second in the NHL in both goals and points. (Several players are tied for second in goals with Crosby).

The Penguins badly need to get things going, but it won't be easy against the Lightning, which currently has an 8-5-2 record. The Post-Gazette makes the case that this game is more than a Stamkos-Crosby matchup; it's Pens head coach Dan Bylsma who will be in the spotlight after the Pens' mediocre start. The Penguins, however, maintain that the key to getting through their slump is to stay calm and keep playing, although that's difficult to square with some of the obvious problems so far:

Everything, of course, does not appear to be fine. Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury has struggled mightily, the team doesn't showcase any elite wingers, its power play has been dreadful and the defensemen were largely responsible for Wednesday night's third-period collapse against Boston.

Look out to see who will be in the net tonight - Brent Johnson had been reliable as a stopper this season, but he was in the net during the Pens' third-period collapse against the Bruins on Wednesday.

In the two teams' first meeting this season, on October 27, Stamkos and Crosby were both held to an assist apiece, and the Lightning won 5-3.
