To say Tim Frazier had a bad night in Penn State's 61-57 loss against Lafayette on Wednesday night at the Bryce Jordan Center would be an understatement.

The Nittany Lions' leading scorer was held to three points on 0-12 shooting and was charged with five costly turnovers as Penn State dropped its second consecutive game to the lowly Leopards. The loss could prove damaging to a young Lions team in desperate need of victories ahead of its tough Big Ten schedule to have a shot at postseason play.

"Tim didn't obviously shoot the ball," coach Patrick Chambers said after the game. "For him to only score three points, percentages say it's not good for us."

Frazier entered averaging just over 19 points, but struggled from the field in the first half and never recovered.

Lafayette's Jim Mower and Seth Hinrichs had 14 points each and Nick Petkovich had 13 points to help key a 38% shooting effort from the field. The Leopards also hit nine 3-pointers to the Lions' three on the evening.

Jermaine Marshall turned in a 20-point, 9-rebound performance to lead Penn State. Cammeron Woodyard chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds while Ross Travis finished with 12 points and eight rebounds. Travis had a rough night at the foul line, however, finishing just 1-7 on foul shots.

"We make four more free throws, we're in overtime right now," coach Patrick Chambers said of Penn State 16-26 effort from the stripe. "Hopefully we learn from this."

Penn State now prepares for a road trip to Pittsburgh, where it will face Duquesne at the Consol Energy Center in a 7:00 p.m. tipoff.

It's halftime at the Bryce Jordan Center and Penn State trails Lafayette 37-32 with 20 minutes to play. Jim Mower and Seth Hinrichs lead the Leopards with nine points each as Lafayette has used a 7-17 shooting performance from the perimeter to open up a 5-point lead.

Jermaine Marshall has a game-high 11 points to lead Penn State. Ross Travis isn't far behind with seven points and five rebounds, but his 1-7 shooting performance from the foul line is putting a damper on an otherwise strong performance.

Penn State outrebounded Lafayette 26-13, including 11-2 on the offensive boards. The Lions are shooting just 1-13 from the perimeter, however, and aren't taking advantage of their second chances for points.

Leading scorer Tim Frazier struggled in the first half, scoring just two points on 0-4 shooting from the field. He stayed involved with five assists in the first half.

Penn State will try to regain momentum after Sunday's loss against Mississippi.

Penn State will look to rebound from Sunday's loss against Mississippi when it hosts Lafayette for a 7:00 p.m. tipoff Wednesday night at the Bryce Jordan Center.

The Nittany Lions dropped a 72-70 heartbreaker against the Rebels and fell to 6-3 on the season last time out, but will face a significantly weaker Leopards team when they take the court tonight. At 3-5 and No. 293 in the RPI according to RealTimeRPI.com, Lafayette is one of the lighter opponents remaining on Penn State's schedule.

Despite their weak resume entering, however, the Leopards do boast a couple of dangerous scorers. Senior guard Jim Mower averages 17.9 points per game while senior forward Ryan Wilen owns a 16.9 average. Combined, the two account for 47% of Lafayette's scoring, so the Lions will likely be very focused on the pair defensively. If Penn State can slow the duo, though, it should be in good position to win this one comfortably.
