Da'Sean Butler Released By Miami Heat

Former Mountaineer standout Da'Sean Butler was released today by the Miami Heat. Butler, who led the Mountianeers to their first Final Four appearance in nearly fifty years, never got on the court for Miami. The forward was still recovering from a torn ACL suffered in the National Semifinal Game against the Duke Blue Devils. Butler's future in the league will likely be dictated by how he bounces back from this injury. It appears that the Heat were unwilling to wait and see how things went with his recovery before booting him from the team. NBA teams have to submit their final fifteen-man rosters today.

This is horrible news for one of the classiest kids to wear the Old Gold n' Blue. Though not wholly unexpected, it's timing could have been better. After a disappointing loss to the Syracuse Orange in the homecoming football game Saturday, and the buckets of rain today, it's kind of a depressing day in Morgantown.
