SB Nation's college football odds page has the lines for next week's critical Big East games, and they're definitely eyebrow-raising. West Virginia listed as a 20-point favorite against Rutgers, which isn't much of a surprise. Pitt is listed as being even money against Cincinnati, which I suspect most Pitt fans would object to, since Cincinnati has already lost to pretty much every other halfway-decent Big East team. Maybe the idea is that Pitt will be so dejected after losing the Backyard Brawl and its grip on the Big East's BCS berth that the Panthers will just phone in the Cincinnati game. But I just don't see how Pitt can't be a significant favorite.
↵The other interesting opening line: South Florida is listed as a one-point favorite against Connecticut. Since a UConn loss would pave the way for WVU or Pitt to head to a BCS bowl, I certainly hope the oddsmakers know what they're talking about here. It's possible USF's overtime win against Miami last week convinced them. Maybe it's just my inner pessimist, but I look at the huge line Jordan Todman put up for UConn on Saturday and I fear another UConn win, even though Todman's three touchdowns came against Cincinnati.
