The West Virginia Mountaineers continued their tradition of playing a mid-season exhibition game downing Walsh 86-63 last night in the Coliseum. Bob Huggins subbed players in five at a time and seemed to just let the guys play when they got in there. The Mountaineers were paced by Casey Mitchell who had 18 points, followed by Truck Bryant with 17, and John Flowers with 14. Freshman Kevin Noreen hauled in 6 rebounds, as did Mitchell and Deniz Kilicli. The Mountaineers jumped out to a large lead early, but let Walsh back in the game in the second half with sloppy play. Joe Mazzulla and Danny Jennings did not see any action due to nagging injuries. It's believed that if this game had counted, they both would have played.
↵The Mountaineers are off for the next few days for Christmas, but will return to action next Wednesday when they open Big East play against the St. John's Red Storm.
