Colin Dunlap of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting that West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith will undergo surgery in January to correct yet another stress fracture in his left foot.
↵Dunlap says Smith played the whole season for the Mountaineers with the injury. This is the second year in a row that he has had stress fracture troubles with his left foot. Smith passed for 2,763 yards and 24 touchdowns this season for the Mountaineers, who ended their season with a 23-7 loss to N.C. State in the Champs Sports Bowl Tuesday night in Orlando.
↵Speaking of that game, Dunlap is also reporting that running back Shawne Alston admitted afterward to posting " 2nd half is da best half!!! Let's go!!" on his Facebook during halftime. He's probably hoping coach Bill Stewart's internet ignorance extends to Facebook, or he might be getting a nasty wall post pretty soon, or worse, a poke.
