WVU The Head Of The Class In Big East

Paul Doyle of the Hartford Courant asks if West Virginia is the class of the Big East:

But while every Big East coach says every team is capable of team winning each week, West Virginia has separated itself.

"I couldn't be happier with where we are at right now," [Dana] Holgorsen said. "We're getting better every week. … Coaches, players, everybody has bought in. Everybody is excited about watching through the doors and excited about going to work every day."

With most of the Big East conference games still left to be played, a lot can change, even from one week to the next. But West Virginia currently looks to be ahead of everyone else right now. Its defense looks reasonable, and its offense looks downright good, piling up big points totals against just about everyone and even racking up 533 yards of total offense against LSU's vaunted defensive unit. Good luck to anyone else in the Big East in trying to figure out how to stop them. Meanwhile, rivals like Pitt and South Florida already have one Big East loss already.

WVU has the week off, then continues with its Big East schedule on Friday, October 21, on the road against Syracuse. Rutgers, Louisville, Cincinnati, Pitt and South Florida follow.
