The Week 8 AP football poll is out, and it has the West Virginia Mountaineers leaping from No. 13 to No. 11 despite an off week. LSU, Alabama and Oklahoma still occupy the top three spots, respectively. There are no changes in the rest of the top 10, either. WVU leapfrogs Michigan, which lost to Michigan State, and Georgia Tech, which lost to Virginia. 6-0 Kansas State, meanwhile, jumps up to No. 12.
The Big Ten is represented by Wisconsin (No. 4), Nebraska (No. 13), Michigan State (No. 15), Michigan (No. 18) and Illinois (No. 23).
Unsurprisingly, West Virginia is the only Big East team in the top 25. The rest of WVU's games are within the conference, and there's certainly the chance the Mountaineers could run the table and go 11-1, with their only loss coming against top-ranked LSU. It would be interesting to see where WVU ended up in the rankings if that happened.
