You might think that Dana Holgorsen was feeling good about West Virginia's 55-10 annihilation of Bowling Green on Homecoming Day this past Saturday. Not the case. The Mountaineers head coach is instead bothered by the decline in attendance at Mountaineer Stadium. 'Only' 46,600 fans showed up to cheer on West Virginia play a pedestrian Bowling Green squad. Sure, that's 16,000 fewer fans that were in attendance for WVU's disappointing primetime loss to LSU. But what do you expect, Mr. Holgorsen? Are there no other entertainment options at students' disposal? Is the economy so vibrant that folks across the state have endless amounts of disposable income? Didn't think so. Oh yeah, it was cold and damp thanks to a steady rainfall throughout the game.
Frankly, the rant sounds petulant, out-of-touch, and unappreciative of the solid support his program does receive, even for meaningless out-of-conference games.
Holgorsen's comments come just after the spread of Twitter rumors suggesting WVU was about to switch conferences to the SEC. It doesn't even sound like Holgorsen thinks WVU should be in the SEC.
