Alcorn State Vs. WVU Score: West Virginia Wins Big, 97-62

After losing to Kent State earlier this week, WVU came back in a big way Thursday night, routing Alcorn State 97-62 to move to 2-1 on the season.

Kevin Jones had 29 points on 13-for-21 shooting, along with 13 rebounds. Truck Bryant chimed in with 18 points, Kevin Noreen had 12, and Deniz Kilicli and Jabarie Hinds had 10 apiece.

Marquis Baker and Chris Brand led Alcorn State with 12 points each.

The Braves managed to stick with the Mountaineers for the first several minutes of the game, but beginning with about 14 minutes left in the first half, Jones scored eight straight points to open a WVU lead. Paul Williamson then capped that run with a three-pointer to make it 24-12. The Mountaineers didn’t look back from there. Hinds’ three-pointer a few seconds before halftime sent WVU to the locker room with a 44-28 lead. The game quickly became a laugher in the second half.
