The West Virginia University Mountaineers have announced their 2011 football schedule, which will begin with a September 3 game against in-state rival Marshall. Its non-conference schedule will also feature games against Norfolk State, Maryland, LSU and Bowling Green. (WVU also faced Marshall, Maryland and LSU on its non-conference schedule in 2010.) The LSU game on September 24 will be at home, so Morgantown should be really wild that day. The Bowling Green game on October 1 will be Homecoming. The team's Big East schedule will kick off at home against UConn on September 8. This year's Backyard Brawl against the Pitt Panthers will be on November 25 in Morgantown.
↵↵↵"I believe we have a very attractive and compelling schedule, including a visit from SEC powerhouse LSU," [WVU Athletic Director Oliver] Luck said. "While five of the first six games allows us to play a good portion of the home schedule in the warmer fall weather, it also provides for a very challenging final six games of the season with four road contests. Overall, I believe it’s a schedule that will challenge our football team and our fans will enjoy."
