Footage Of WVU's Dana Holgorsen's Casino Incident Won't Be Released

The Charleston Daily Mail reports that the West Virginia Lottery Commission has footage of the incident at Mardi Gras Casino & Resort in which West Virginia football coach-in-waiting Dana Holgorsen was asked to leave. Out of respect for the privacy of other casino patrons, however, the commission won’t release the footage. The commission argues that it doesn’t have to, since the incident did not involve gambling.

“Our records do not show any casino gaming problems for the time period of your request,” [lottery director John] Musgrave said in the letter. “I have no information indicating Mr. Holgorsen and his group were visiting Mardi Gras in any official government capacity. Consideration should also be given to the images of other customers who had nothing to do with Mr. Holgorsen’s presence and may expect proper handling of their right to privacy.”

It sounds like we’ll never really know what happened there. We don't really need to know much more than that the incident was alcohol-related. Holgorsen wasn’t arrested, and when police asked him to leave, he left.
