Here are the AP's new preseason college football rankings. Oklahoma is tops, followed by Alabama, Oregon, LSU and Boise State. West Virginia is at No. 24, and is, unsurprisingly, the only Big East team represented, although Pitt received nine votes. Penn State narrowly missed the top 25, receiving 75 votes.

West Virginia plays LSU on September 24, and that's the Mountaineers' only matchup against a top 25 team. Pitt plays West Virginia and No. 16 Notre Dame. Penn State, as has been the norm recently, has the toughest schedule of any local team, playing Alabama, No. 10 Nebraska, No. 11 Wisconsin and No. 18 Ohio State.
