West Virginia's Jabarie Hinds Cleared By NCAA

While football season is almost upon us, the biggest news in Morgantown today comes from the hardcourts. Classes started at WVU on Monday, but freshman point guard Jabarie Hinds was nowhere to be found as he awaited an NCAA ruling on his eligibility. According to WVMetronews:

West Virginia University men's basketball freshman Jabarie Hinds has been cleared by the NCAA Eligibility Center and will be eligible for the 2011-12 basketball season. Hinds was the Mountaineers' top recruit in the 2011 class, according to multiple recruiting outlets.

The dynamic point guard went to Mount Vernon High School, the same school as current Mountaineer star Kevin Jones.

The Mountaineers have a rebuilding year ahead of them, with only four returning players from last year's squad. Hinds is expected to compete for a starting spot alongside Truck Bryant. Bryant suffered much of last season in an epic shooting slump and Mountaineer fans were eagerly awaiting Hinds' arrival, hoping that his presence will alleviate some of the pressure on Bryant.
