The first quarter has come to an end in College Park and it has been the most successful first quarter this season for the Mountaineers. While WVU has struggled early in games this season, this time things are different.
Vernard Roberts scored on a nine yard touchdown run to cap an 88 yard, ten play drive that saw Geno Smith thread a couple of beautiful passes to beat Maryland defenders. The Mountaineers have been moving the football with ease, but saw their first drive stymied by an Andrew Buie fumble.
The Mountaineer defense has come to play as well, getting off the field when given the opportunity. The Terps have only converted one third down in the first quarter. The defense even got onto the scoreboard when and scored their first touchdown of the season on a 38 yard interception return for a touchdown by Terence Garvin.
