Coal Bowl, Marshall Vs. West Virginia: WVU Looks To Get Off To Strong Start

A few notes in advance of Sunday's Coal Bowl between the Marshall Thundering Herd and the West Virginia Mountaineers, which takes place at 3:30 PM on Sunday.

-Every other Big East team has won so far this week - most in cupcake games, sure, but South Florida knocked off Notre Dame as well. The Mountaineers won't want to be the team that breaks that streak.

-The Trib reports that WVU will be trying to avoid getting off to a sluggish start.

"Whoever we play, we want to get their best," Holgorsen said. "We have to prepare for them. It doesn't matter what the other team's record is or where they come from, but we want their best. We need to make sure our excitement level is high. It's part of the challenge of getting your guys ready to play every week."

The Mountaineers also aren't yet sure what to make of Marshall freshman quarterback Rakeem Cato, the Trib reports.

-The Charleston Daily Mail writes that WVU's Bruce Irvin and Marshall's Vinny Curry, two of the nation's sacks leaders next year, will be "main attractions" at the Coal Bowl.
