Bracketology 2012: NCAA Tournament Could Feature Nine Big East Teams

SB Nation's latest Bracketology 2012 post has only one area team, West Virginia, heading to March Madness. SB Nation predicts WVU will go as a No. 6 seed in the Midwest conference.

It's not surprising that WVU looks like the only local team headed to the tournament. There will be a handful of tournament matchups played in Pittsburgh, but the Pitt Panthers are currently on the outside looking in, having lost eight straight games, including seven Big East games, before finally reeling off a couple wins against Providence and Georgetown. And Penn State has had a tough time against Big Ten competition.

Besides West Virginia, the Big East is represented in this bracket by eight teams (with their seeds): Syracuse (1), Georgetown (3), Marquette (4), UConn (7), Louisville (7), Seton Hall (9), Cincinnati (11) and Notre Dame (12). Of course, January isn't even over yet, and there's plenty of time for teams to prove themselves worthy or unworthy of inclusion. But it's fun to start thinking about this stuff now.
