The No. 9 ranked Georgetown Hoyas came into Morgantown hoping to keep their momentum going, but the West Virginia Mounteers were able to take down the Hoyas 74-62. The Mountaineers held a slight two-point lead over the Hoyas at halftime, but the 'Eers were able to pull away in the second half an secure the upset victory.
Darryl Bryant proved too much for the Hoyas to handle, knocking down 25 points in the game while Kevin Jones put up 22 points and 16 rebounds against the Hoyas. Georgetown just couldn't get enough going on offense, shooting just 14.3% from three-point range. Hollis Thompson led the Hoyas in scoring, picking up 20 points and five rebounds. Two other Hoyas wound up with double digit points, as Jason Clark and Henry Sims both picked up 10 points.
