The West Virginia Mountaineers added the Georgia State Panthers to their 2013 non-conference football schedule. WVU's non-conference opponents for 2013 now include Georgia State, the Maryland Terrapins, and the William & Mary Tribe. The game against Maryland will take place at Baltimore's M&T Bank Stadium.
WVU will host Georgia State in Morgantown on Sept. 14, 2013, and the Panthers will receive $550k for the game. Georgia State is in transition to the the FBS and will move to the Sun Belt Conference next year; currently this season they are 0-6 overall and 0-3 in the Colonial Athletic Association.
This season, the Mountaineers non-conference schedule consisted of cross-state rival the Marshall Thundering Herd, the James Madison Dukes and Maryland. The Terrapins played West Virginia close, losing to the Mountaineers, 31-21, in Morgantown. WVU is currently 5-0 overall and 2-0 in their first season in the Big Ten. They travel to Texas Tech on Saturday to take on the Red Raiders.
