According to the Charleston Daily Mail, West Virginia University and head basketball coach Bob Huggins are working on a new contract.
Athletic director Oliver Luck said Friday that it will take a few months to complete the reworked deal. Huggins' current contract was signed in 2008 for 11 years and $27.5 million, including $2.3 million for the upcoming season.
Luck is looking to add both length and compensation to the contract and wants to have it done by the end of the year.
The new contract isn't something that was needed but it does help the 59-year-old coach in recruiting since recruits will know that Huggins is at West Virginia for the long haul.
The former University of Cincinnati coach is heading into his sixth season at the helm of the Mountaineers and has taken his team to the NCAA tournament in each of his first five seasons. Huggins has accumulated a 120-56 record at West Virginia, including a 19-14 campaign last season.
