West Virginia University announced on Friday that athletic director Oliver Luck has signed a contract extension through 2017, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Jenn Menendez.
Luck was behind the hiring of football coach Dana Holgorsen, who rewarded Luck's faith in him by leading the program from the weakened Big East to the Big 12 this season.
According the Post-Gazette, Luck's salary will be $550,000 with another $150,000 in possible performance bonuses each year. Luck's original contract was for five-years and was signed on June 9, 2010. Luck was in the third-year of his deal.
President Jim Clements' belief in Luck makes sense when you look at the numbers. In just the last year, Luck raised $22.7 million for the University, the department's best-ever fundraising year.
Luck's extension comes at the same time it was announced that the school is currently negotiating a new contract extension with head basketball coach Bob Huggins.
