The West Virginia Mountaineers head to Lubbock, Texas to take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders Saturday. WVU is coming off a big road win over the Texas Longhorns and remains undefeated at 5-0. TTU is no longer unbeaten, as they lost to Oklahoma last Saturday.
Mountaineer fans believe they have the advantage because of Heisman-candidate quarterback Geno Smith. The senior is off to a remarkable start, having completed 81 percent of his passes for 1,996 yards, while tossing 24 touchdowns and no interceptions. Smith leads a potent West Virginia offense that is averaging 52 points per game.
Texas Tech believes the key to success will be getting pressure on Smith. The Red Raiders haven't done much of that this season, sacking the opponent just nine times in five games. The West Virginia offensive line has also made it tough on front-fours, giving up just eight total sacks in 224 drop-backs. Getting to Smith will be a tall task, and slowing down the WVU offense will be even tougher.
Game time, TV channel: 3:30 p.m. ET, ABC
Point spread: West Virginia favored by 4.
