The latest SB Nation BlogPoll was released Tuesday, and the West Virginia Mountaineers plummeted all the way down to No. 17. According to the poll, the Mountaineers (5-1) dropped 13 spots in the rankings after their 42-7 loss to the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Saturday. Because of the win Texas Tech moved up 13 places to No. 18.
The BlogPoll's results was the same as the USA Today Coaches' Poll which also had the Mountaineers ranked 15th. The AP Poll had West Virginia at No. 17 while the BCS Rankings had the Mountaineers ranked 13th.
Overall, WVU was one of five Big 12 Conference schools ranked in the top 25. The Kansas St. Wildcats were the highest-ranked Big 12 program at No. 4. The Wildcats were slotted behind the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide, Oregon Ducks, Florida Gators. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish rounded out the top five.
Meanwhile, the Oklahoma Sooners were ranked ninth behind the LSU Tigers, South Carolina Gamecocks and Oregon St. Beavers. The Ohio State Buckeyes polished off the top 10.
